A Very Merry Christmas Survey

I think this survey originated over at Lindsay’s Library! What fun!

Please play along either in the comments below or leave me a link to a post with your answers!

The Survey

Favorite Christmas song(s)?

Sleigh Ride

Favorite Christmas movie(s)?

It’s A Wonderful Life – I watched this for the first time this season and I can see why it’s an annual tradition. ALL THE FEELS!!

Rudolph, Frosty, the Grinch or Charlie Brown?

I love Frosty and the spirit of joy he embodies!

Best and/or most memorable Christmas gift you ever received?

Personalized gifts are always the best especially those that include photos. One year we made calendars for the whole family and I was surprised to get one myself. One of my favorite gifts.

Real tree or artificial tree?

I prefer real! After much internal debate not only do I think they are better for the environment but it’s wonderful to bring a piece of the outdoors inside. And they smell so good!

Piper prefers a real tree too!

What tops your tree? Star? Angel? Bow?

I love the elegant and classic look of a star on top of my tree! (this is an example…couldn’t get a good shot of mine in the dark this morning)

Do you send out Christmas cards? Do you go photo card or traditional?

We do not do photo cards…I think that is more of a thing for families with children. I send out traditional cards…usually with snowy or wintery scenes and lots of glitter!

When did you stop believing in Santa?

I don’t remember! That was a long long time ago! lol

Do you have any special Christmastime traditions?

Do you have a favorite type of decoration — snowmen, trees, Christmas village, etc.?

I don’t decorate as much as I used to but I like to keep it simple. Garland and white lights with a few pops of red and gold.

Do you have any sentimental decorations or ornaments?

Our whole tree is full of a motley assortment of sentimental ornaments. It’s such fun unwrapping ad hanging each one every year and remembering…

White lights or colored lights? Big old-fashioned lights or mini lights?

I like off-white (I hate those super bright bluish white lights) lights on the pine trees and lamppost outside and colored lights on my tree inside. One day I’d love to have two trees inside so I can do my traditional one with colored lights and sentimental ornaments and have a decorative/elegant one with white lights and simple red and gold ornaments.

When do you start decorating for Christmas?

As soon as I have time! LOL Usually the 1st or 2nd weekend in December.

Favorite Christmas treat?

Coookies!!!!

Do you like sugar cookies? Gingerbread cookies?

I like all cookies. See above.

Do you have cocoa or hot chocolate? Do you like your warm chocolate-y beverage with marshmallows?

I am not sure that I know the difference? I don’t put marshmallows in my hot chocolate because they are not vegetarian:)

What do you eat at your Christmas feast?

ALL the veggies but especially the mashed potatoes!!! MMmmmmmmm!

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve or do you wait until Christmas morning?

Generally we open ours on Christmas morning. But if we are visiting family or friends earlier or later we will open gifts exchanged with them at that time.

Favorite Christmas-y scent?

Pine

If you could ask Santa for any gift this year — and know that he’d bring it — what would it be?

Can I have a new house? Ha! seriously though…we are very blessed even though we may not always think so. The best gift would be the ability to see and remember that!

  1. Thanks for sharing this with us. I do prefer a real tree but I get annoyed with the needles so fake it is! Lol

And I don’t need an excuse to have cookies & hot cocoa…

    Happy holidays!

It’s a Wonderful Life is one of my top Christmas favorites, along with A Christmas Story! As for music, years ago we got a Crypt Keeper Christmas songs tape – (they are cheesy & so funny – available on youtube) – it remains one of our nutty family traditions 🙂

  3. Thanks for filling this out! Your kitty is adorable! I like “It’s a Wonderful Life” too — I actually saw they’re showing it at the movie theater here this weekend, but I don’t think my husband would go for that!

P.S. There is no difference between cocoa and hot chocolate — I just meant which one do you say! Apparently everyone read it the same way you did, though, so I fixed it on the survey! 😉
