Breaking rules and breaking hearts

Free-spirited Chloe lives life on the edge. Unlike her soon-to-be married sisters, she isn’t ready to settle into a quiet life running their family’s newly renovated inn. But soon her love of trouble–and trouble with love-draws the attention of the very stern, very sexy sheriff who’d like nothing better than to tame her wild ways.

Suddenly Chloe can’t take a misstep without the sheriff hot on her heels. His rugged swagger and his enigmatic smile are enough to make a girl beg to be handcuffed. For the first time, instead of avoiding the law, Chloe dreams of surrender. Can this rebel find a way to keep the peace with the straitlaced sheriff? Or will Chloe’s colorful past keep her from a love that lasts . . . and the safe haven she truly wants in a town called Lucky Harbor?

“She drew in a breath. “So I have
this thing I do before sex. A test. An ‘Is He Inhaler Worthy?’
He just stared at her. “There’s a test. Before sex.”
“Yes. And I should tell you, not many pass.”

“I’d be worth the inhaler,” he said, then forced himself to walk away into the night.”

My Thoughts

Another very cute and fun addition to the Lucky Harbor series:) Jill Shalvis delivers yet again with Chloe’s story in Head Over Heels. I actually enjoyed Chloe’s story almost as much as Maddie’s and even more than Tara’s. The charming small town setting with all of the sweet and kooky secondary characters just adds to the pleasure.

All of Jill’s stories are so fun and easy to read, this one is no exception. The prose and dialogue just flows effortlessly , allowing the reader to get caught up in the emotions of the characters…and boy are there emotions aplenty here! We’re never really in doubt about how the story will end, but we’re so delighted with getting to know the characters better that one just can’t stop reading.

Chloe is such an interesting character…she’s an independent thinker, free spirit who deep down actually craves roots and family and solidity. Sawyer is more than her match…he comes with his own unresolved issues and together they are pure fireworks.

We also continue to see the growth and strength of the relationship between the three sisters and the three friends (Jax, Ford, & of course Sawyer). This is perhaps the best part of this series for me.

Head Over Heels (Lucky Harbor #3) more than delivers!
