Genres and Writers Who Inspire Me
I’ve always been a huge fan of both horror and mystery since I was little. I can remember my Father taking me to the movies to see “Black Sunday” with Barbara Steele when I was little – I was forever hooked on vampires and witches after that. My love affair with mysteries came about when I read “The Secret in the Old Attic” in fifth grade. I got hooked on Nancy Drew, the Dana Girls, Judy Bolton, all the series detectives you name them. As I grew older, I became hooked on my mother’s collection of Erle Stanley Gardner’s Perry Mason series. Paul Drake and Nancy Drew were my first detective role models.
Fast forward to High School, where I discovered Stephen King and Salem’s Lot! Around the same time I also discovered John Saul. I credit these two authors, King in particular, with fanning the flame of horror that lay dormant within me. My very favorite King tome remains, to this day, Salem’s Lot, with Pet Sematery a close second. As the years passed I also developed an interest in romance, but not just any romance – paranormal romance. So it seemed only natural when I finally put RIS (rear in seat) I would combine the two areas I love most – mystery and paranormal!
They say we are what we eat – well, we are also what we read. And it’s never more prervalent than when we write. Write about what you know is so true – that’s where all the passion lies. Passion, dear readers, we get to share with you with each and every written word.
I hope you enjoy them.

Sydney McCall left behind an ex-fiancé and a New York advertising job to return home to Deer Park, North Carolina and help her sister, Kat, run the local animal shelter, Friendly Paws. Determined to save the shelter from financial trouble, Sydney and Kat organize a cat café fundraising event at a local coffee shop. Things are looking up until their landlord, Trowbridge Littleton, threatens to shut down the event. When Sydney drops by his art gallery to make peace, she finds Kat--along with Littleton's dead body.
Local homicide detective Will Worthington--who just happens to be Sydney's old high school crush--is highly suspicious of the sisters' involvement. Desperate to clear their names from the suspect list, Sydney pounces on the investigation. With the help of one of the shelter cats, a savvy orange tabby named Toby, Sydney begins poking her nose into other local businesses whose owners may have benefited from Littleton's death--until the killer notices she's pawing a little too closely at the truth.
Delightfully clever and charming, Purr M for Murder, the first in a new series from nationally bestselling author T. C. LoTempio, will leave readers clawing for more.
