There are Witches in the Air

Magic Junkies of the World Unite!
by Nikki Jefford
I’d like to do something different during my stop at “There Are Witches in the Air.” I want to interview YOU!
I’ll keep it down to three simple questions. Answer them in comments and I will choose three winners who will receive three signed Spellbound (Entangled) bookmarks.
You can also win Entangled in eBook instantly by completing three quick tasks in Rafflecopter. A coupon code will be waiting at the end. 😉
While I’m here, I’m going to answer my own questions. Let’s begin.

1.      Which book, movie, or TV series made you first fall in love with magic?

Matilda by Roald Dahl
After reading Matilda in grade school I became obsessed with magic, spending hours trying to move objects with my mind and bend spoons at the dinner table by staring at them till I went cross-eyed.

2.      If you could choose one power, what would it be?

Teleportation
When we moved to Portland, Oregon (third grade), I tried to teleport back home to Alaska by standing in the center of a circle I made with rocks. I was so convinced it was going to work I packed a travel bag.

3.      Who is your favorite witch, wizard, or warlock of all time?

Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer

She’s sweet and sorta scary. She’s also behind a lot of the magical mishaps that made the series so much fun. My third book in the Spellbound trilogy, Enchantment, (releasing at the end of the year) was inspired by the Buffy episode “Something Blue” (Season 4, episode 9) when Willow unwittingly casts a love spell over Buffy and Spike. Of all the crazy mishaps Graylee Perez has gone through (death, resurrection, body sharing, body transfer, and duplication), the love spell has been one of the most fun.

Thank you, Mrs. M (Mrs. Married Melissa!), for having me back. Long live magic!

Twin witches Graylee and Charlene Perez agree on one rule: No dating warlocks.

Not so easy when a certain rogue warlock is convinced he and Graylee belong together and will use anything, including magic, to try and impress Gray. When Charlene’s boyfriend dumps her, she threatens to kill either herself or the girl who stole Blake. Somehow, Gray ends up dead.

A Resurrection Spell Gone Wrong:

Two months after dying, Gray wakes up in Charlene’s body. As a witch, can anyone blame her mother for attempting to bring her daughter back to life? Only now Gray’s stuck sharing her sister’s body 50/50 in twenty-four hour shifts.

The race is on for Gray to find a way back inside her own body before Charlene purges her from existence. Raj McKenna is rumored to meddle in the black arts, not to mention he’s after Gray’s invisibility spell and worse – her heart. But Raj might be the only one powerful enough to save Gray from fading away forever.

If Graylee Perez thought sharing a body with her twin sister was bad, dealing with a duplicate of herself is two times worse. Gray the second doesn’t seem to get that Lee’s boyfriend, Raj McKenna, is off limits. Then there’s the problem of Adrian Montez. He expects one of the Grays to be his.

Nearly a year later, the council is onto them for past misdeeds; Lee, along with the rest of the coven, has lost control of her powers; and Gray is being stalked by what looks like the Grim Reaper.

If they work together, they may stand a chance of setting things right and making it out alive.

Magic junky, bookaholic, nature girl, and animal lover.

  1. Awesome, thanks for the free book! Downloaded it for my Kindle. Now, onto the questions. 🙂

    1. Which book, movie, or TV series made you first fall in love with magic? Watching Bewitched when I was a little girl…I always wished I could just twitch my nose like Samantha!

    2. If you could choose one power, what would it be? Might be a strange choice, but I would want to be able to breathe underwater. I would love to swim to the depths of the ocean, exploring ship wrecks, and just being among dolphins and other ocean creatures!

    3. Who is your favorite witch, wizard, or warlock of all time? This is a super hard question! I’ve got a soft spot for Harry Potter, though I’m growing fond of Diana in “A Discovery of Witches”.

    • Breathing under water… I love it!

I have “A Discovery of Witches” on my TBR list for this winter. Also just bought “The Secret Circle” – I want to see what that’s all about.

  2. Funnnnn! Ok!

    1. Which book, movie, or TV series made you first fall in love with magic?
First book: The Lion the witch and the wardrobe as a child.
I swear till this day I still peak into the back of wardrobes.
First TV show: Bewitched I use to watch it as a kid on Nickelodeon.
I still wish I could clean at the twitch of my nose.

    2. If you could choose one power, what would it be?
Freeze time would be fun and handy

    3. Who is your favorite witch, wizard, or warlock of all time?
Sally Owens from Practical Magic (the book and movie). She’s strong, pretty, brilliant, and still manages to be an awesome mom.

    (not a bookmark entry)

  3. Ooooo fun!

    1. The first witch-related thing I can remember falling in love with was the TV show Charmed. I got addicted to that show!

    2. I’m going to keep with my Charmed theme and say telekinesis – I always envied Prue’s power to move things with her mind. How cool would that be?

    3. I’m going to have to go with Dumbledore for my favorite wizard. He’s kind of hard not to love:)

  4. I’m not entering, but I will answer some just for fun.
I think Willow is my favorite witch too. And I love that in this event most everyone has brought up Willow. She is definitely one well loved witch!
Buffy was the show that made me fall in love with magic. I remember back when we didn’t have cable and before netflix we got like one channel on our Tv and they played like three episodes of Buffy every night but it was way way late and I always stayed up to watch them.
I think the power I would like might also be teleportation. My family lives far away and I would love to see them more often. Of course I need to be able to bring people with since I cant leave my kids behind.

I think that’s funny (and so awesome) that you really believed you’d be able to teleport Nikki! My parents always told me that stuff isn’t real so I don’t remember ever believing in it for real. 🙁

    • Hey, Candace. Too funny. Buffy is the show that made me fall in love with VAMPIRES. Before Buffy I was like, “I don’t get it. Vampires are yuck.”

I feel the same way about teleportation – visiting family – and what a good point about taking along passengers. I don’t go anywhere without my hubby or dog.

Oh, magic’s real alright. Your parents just didn’t know any better. lol!

  5. I should have answered the questions myself in the post! But whatever!

    1. I have always been obsessed with witches and magic so it is hard for me to remember back that far (I am old!) but one of my earliest reading memories is The House with a Clock in Its Walls (Lewis Barnavelt #1)
by John Bellairs. I also loved The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe as well as Charmed!

    2. I think that I also would love to have the power of transportation! How awesome to be able to visit relatives whenever one wanted, to travel the world at the blink of an eye and to have to commute to and from work!

    3. Willow is awesome! But I will always have a soft spot for Dumbledore and McGonagall (Harry Potter)

    ♥Melissa

  6. 1-I am sure there were other things that got me hooked to magic, but Charmed really pushed my love over the top and I was hooked for the whole series!
2-I think that I would have to choose controlling the elements. I know it is kind of cheating because there are more than one, but who wouldn’t want to be able to call water, air, fire or earth to the rescue?!
3-Well you see I have many favorites, Dumbledore, Gandolf (from the books not the movies), but I think that for this I will choose Piper Halliwell from Charmed. She could blow things up with the flick of her hand! Very cool.

  7. 1. Which book, movie, or TV series made you first fall in love with magic?
I grew up watching reruns of Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie so the spark started there. Then we would watch the Wizard of Oz every year as a family and I love Glenda the Good Witch.

    2. If you could choose one power, what would it be?
I would love to be able to teleport. I’m afraid to fly in an airplane so teleportation from place to place would be awesome.

    3. Who is your favorite witch, wizard, or warlock of all time?
It’s really hard to pinpoint a favorite. I love Lily Ivory from Juliet Blackwell’s Witchcraft Mysteries, Gwen Sparks from the Stephanie Nelson series, and I love the movie Practical Magic.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  8. I’m sure you already know this, but Nikki you’re awesome! 😉 I’m sooo excited for Aurora Sky!

    Anyway, here are my answers:

    1. Truthfully, it’s hard to say! I mean, I grew up watching Disney Channel and some of my fave movies were the Halloweentown movies where the main character was a witch. And I also used to watch Sabrina the Teenage Witch…so I suppose that’s where it all started. And then there’s Charmed…I LOVE LOVE LOVE that show! I have this really weird study habit where I HAVE to have some sort of background noise…it’s usually always music or movies/tv shows on my lap top, and I just love to watch re-runs of Charmed while I’m studying 🙂 And did I read correctly??? You’ve haven’t seen Charmed??? Nikki, I am shocked! lol (But seriously, you need to see that show!)

    2. The power to heal 🙂 Me being a nursing student and all…totally understandable!

    3. Let’s see, well I love the Charmed Ones…Phoebe and Piper are my favorites, though. And Graylee and OhMyGods RAJ! *swoons*

Thanks so much for the giveaway!

    • Hi Lili. You’re such a Raj – “power to heal”. We need more saints… and nurses! 😉

Starting to feel embarrassed about the Charmed thing. I’ve never watched much TV, but I have been getting into series the past couple years.

As a Spellbound Street Team Member you’re entitled to bookmarks whenever you want!

    • 😀 That is also another reason why I love Raj! I don’t mean to steal away Graylee’s man, but he and I could totally be soul mates! 😉 lol

Charmed is awesome! I’m sure you’ll like it 🙂

And OMG I did not know that! *e-mails Nikki right away!* You should probably disqualify my entry then, so someone else can have a chance to win. I had fun answering the questions, though!

  9. Kids and teens that are overweight are at better danger for bone and joint problems, rest apnea, and social and emotional issues such as stigmatization and inadequate self-confidence.
