Sunday Book News (Book Haul & Wrap Up) – Hello November

 Notes from Melissa

WOW, these are becoming more like monthly rather than weekly posts! I think it’s time to decide if I want to just plan to post one monthly recap or if I should really buckle down and get these done on a weekly basis.

On the reading front…I’ve been slumping a bit this past week and a half. Nothing I’ve read has really done it for me. Three of the books were for review and I ended up DNFing one and the fourth was for book club. I guess I’d better make sure that my next read is just for me.

  1. I’ve had a few slumpy days where I didn’t feel like reading. Hope your reads going ahead are good, it’s hard to be motivated when a book isn’t clicking. Nice to see a new Dash and Lily book out- I still haven’t read the first one but the title jumped out at me, looks like a good Christmas time read. 🙂

Hope you like The woman in Cabin 10. The Last Anniversary looks good, I like Liane Moriarty.

Yes, the past few and current read just are not clicking…but I have plan for some good reads for the rest of the month! Hope you get to read the 1st Dash & Lily…so cute. And I am enjoying The Last Anniversary. I can’t wait to get into my car each day so I can hear a little more!

  2. I know what you mean about getting these posts up. I had entirely forgotten about it until I was online and saw someones post come through on Twitter.
I have to continue with The Lunar Chronicles myself. I stalled out after the second.
I love the variety of books that you are reading lately.

  3. One Snowy Night was sweet though I didn”t love the ending.

If a monthly recap works better for you, why not do that? Whatever’s less stressful for you. And I agree that you should pick a book that’s just for you, not for review or book club or anyone else. I have fewer slumps now that I intersperse books for myself and books for review. I try to read one book for myself for every two I read for review but it’s not a hard rule. Flexibility keeps my reading fresh. Might work for you. 🙂

I agree completely about the ending!

And yes…I plan to read more just for me this month…I think your 2 for 1 plan is a good one!

  4. I love reading these, but I know they can take time every week so whatever works for you! I do them when I can, but sometimes I just run out of time. haha

I STILL need to read Winter. I’m hoping to do it closer to Christmas when I have time off from work and can focus on a longer book. It will probably read fast though – the others did! 🙂

Ooh The Woman in Cabin 10. I really loved it; I hope you do too, if you haven’t read it already.

I did really enjoy The Woman in Cabin 10 …perfect reading for this time of year! And yes…Winter was a pretty quick read despite the size! 9at least for me!)

  5. Weekly, bi or monthly I am just glad to see you linking up and keeping us informed. Reading slumps are the worst. I really enjoyed the Woman in Cabin Ten and hope you do as well. I am reading When All The Girls Have Gone as well! Hope the week ahead is a good one for you!

I guess I’m just going to keep playing it by ear but I’m not going to stress anymore if I don’t post weekly! I hope you are enjoying When All The Girls Have Gone more than I am … :-/

The Woman in Cabin 10 was really twisty:) Can’t decide which of her books I liked better! Hope you enjoy it Kay!

  6. I think a lot of us are in a slump right now. Can’t decide if it is the election (even those not in the US are affected… sorry!) or if it is just that time of the year when things seem to speed up.

I’m also sad about Jenny. 🙁

Hope you have a better reading month (although it looked like you rocked it to me)!
